A Servicing Management Plan produced by AMNI Transportation has helped a developer secure planning permission. AMNI Transportation has been successful in helping a developer secure planning approval for a bar, restaurant and hotel development in the city centre of Manchester.
During the planning consultation stage a comment was made on the need to provide the servicing requirements for the proposal. AMNI Transportation was brought in to provide specialist advice to develop a Servicing Management Plan (SMP) for all the uses at the development site.
We had to research the type of servicing required, the frequency and the size of vehicles that would service the development and times that vehicles would travel to and from the development. This was to ensure that vehicles could safely negotiate the local street network and not create any road safety issues when undertaking the servicing. The local road network had limited loading and unloading facilities so AMNI had to devise a plan that would avoid conflicting with other servicing movements. As part of the work we had to engage with servicing companies including refuse collection companies to understand how they operate in the area and how servicing could be achieved. We also had to demonstrate that the vehicles could turn around in the street which we demonstrated through the Swept Path Analysis software that we use.
We had to ensure that plan we developed was consistent with national and local policy. We submitted our SMP document to the Highway Authority and it was accepted without the need for a planning condition.
If you have a development proposal that may require a Servicing Management Plan then we would be pleased to offer some initial advice or develop a full Serving Management Plan for you. Please contact us
